POLICIES
Mobile Pet Spaws Cancellation Policy
Your appointments are very important to the members of the Mobile Pet Spaws team, they are reserved especially for you. We understand that sometimes schedule adjustments are necessary; therefore, we respectfully request at least 48-hour notice for cancellations. More than 48hours notice is very much appreciated. Our groomers work on commission and tips only. They rely on full schedules and cancelations made at the last minute make it very difficult to ensure a full schedule. We appreciate your understanding with this matter.
STRICT AND ENFORCED 24 HOUR CANCELLATION POLICY
Please understand that when you forget or cancel your appointment without giving enough notice, we miss the opportunity to fill that appointment time, and clients on our waiting list miss the opportunity to receive services. Our appointments are confirmed via text or email 72 hours in advance because we know how easy it is to forget an appointment you booked weeks or months ago. Since the services are reserved for you personally, a cancellation fee will apply (see below for details).
Less than 24-hour notice will result in a charge of 50% of the groom which will be applied to the next groom session.
“NO SHOWS” or same day cancellations will result in a charge of 100% of the groom price.
Aggressive Behavior
Clients must disclose any previous dangerous behavior exhibited by their pet. Depending on the severity of the dangerous behavior we may be required to use restraints such as muzzles to perform grooming services and ensure the safety of the groomer. For the benefit of both the pet and stylist, we will not continue working, or may skip stressful procedures, if your pet’s behavior is compromising his safety and/or that of the groomer. We may refer you to your veterinarian for a sedative. Aggressive behavior which results in a bite or other injury to the groomer, will be reported to the animal control agency of the county where the grooming was performed, in accordance with the requirements of Tennessee law.
Use of Sedatives
We do not practice veterinary medicine and cannot legally administer sedatives or drugs as an aid to grooming. We do realize that there are some situations where a veterinarian may prescribe something to be administered by the client prior to grooming services. As we have no control over the use of sedatives or drugs we do not administer, Mobile Pet Spaws assumes no liability for adverse reactions to these medications.
Veterinary Care
We make every effort to ensure your pet’s grooming is pleasant and safe, however, if your pet becomes ill or if the services of a veterinarian are required, you hereby give us permission to obtain treatment if you are not available to do so and agree to pay for all expenses.
Vet Talk
Our groomers are certified and trained in pet grooming only and will not practice or discuss veterinarian medicine or treatment of any kind with the client. If the groomer finds a spot, rash, wound, cut, lump, bump, or if the pet ears does not look healthy, each groomer has been instructed to communicate to the client as soon as possible and advise to visit the vet to be checked and/or diagnosed. The grooming may be affected or rescheduled if the groomer encounters any of the above-mentioned issues.
Senior Pets & Pets with Health Problems
Once your pet becomes elderly or if they suffer from a health condition, they may not be able to tolerate a lengthy grooming procedure. For their comfort and safety, they will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort, in simple styles.
Mat & Pelt Removal
While we are extremely careful when removing excessively matted or pelted coats there is a risk of nicks, cuts, or abrasions due to warts, moles, or skin folds trapped in the mats. Removal of the matting may also reveal skin irritations caused by moisture trapped near the pet’s skin allowing mold, fungus, or bacterial growth. I may also find V-shaped cuts, where owners have tried to remove the mats themselves with scissors.
The aftereffects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and in rare instances failure of hair to re-grow. Shaved pets are also prone to sunburn and should either have sunscreen applied or be kept out of the sun until the hair grows in sufficiently to the protect the skin.
We will only shave down your pet with your consent.
There will be an additional charge for this service, depending on the severity, because of the extra time required to slowly and carefully get under the pet’s mats.
As the owner, you are responsible for the condition of your pet’s coat and may not hold us responsible in the event of adverse effects of mat removal.
Grooming Accidents
Working on live animals, there is always the possibility an accident could occur, especially when the pet is moving around, being wiggly, or just fighting the groomer because they don’t like or are scared of the grooming process. We know grooming equipment is sharp, even though we use extreme caution and care in all situations, potential incidents could occur during a groom session. Some examples of grooming incidents are as follows:
Cuts with the clipper blade while shaving tight mats off.
Scissor nicks while the pet is not being still on the table for the groomer.
Scratches which could happen to a hyper or wiggly pet that keeps trying to jump off the table or tub.
Quicking of neglected nails when trying to clip really short and gets cut too short, exposing the vein in the pet nails (quick)
Brush burns that occur when we try brushing mats out.
Hematomas that could occur either during or even after shaving close mats, especially around the ears.
Every effort will be made to ensure the pet is groomed as safely as possible but an excited, scared, nervous or anxious pet can be dangerous to work on. Mobile Pet Spaws requires all employees to perform the grooms as cautious, safe, and humanely as possible. It is up to the groomers discretion on whether a dog is safe to groom. The groomer will notify the pet owner if the pet is being uncooperative and/or not safe to perform the groom. Mobile Pet Spaws and its groomers, cannot be held liable in the event of any grooming accident due to behavior or bad condition such as matting, neglected coat, or skin condition, etc.
